the village of rancho las canas

Las Canas is a quaint little Mexican village and part of Greater San Miguel de Allende.

With the massive expansion and gentrification of San Miguel de Allende, Las Canas offers what seems to be an "endangered" Old Mexico village feel, where wholesome family values and a simple life seem to be the secret to happiness.

Wake up to the sounds of roosters crowing, birds chirping happily, children laughing and playing, the anticipated music of the ice cream truck coming through town, dogs barking and of course, fireworks commemorating one of many Mexican holidays.

There is a delivery truck that comes around once a week with fresh fruit and vegetables from the local farms and will stop right at your house.  You can also get fresh farm eggs and chicken from the neighbors.

Amenities located in Las Canas include a small hardware store and various small neighborhood “tiendas” (little stores) where you can purchase everyday items without trekking into San Miguel de Allende every time you need something.

And when you want a little more excitement and amazing gourmet foods, you are only a 30 minute drive on a brand new highway to the boutique town of San Miguel de Allende, where you will feel like you just transported to another timeline surrounded by endless option of fine dining restaurants, chic grocery stores, farmers market's, boutique shops and shopping malls.

Between Las Canas and San Miguel, just minutes off the highway are 3-4 popular hot springs where you can relax and rejuvenate all day with the family for just 350 pesos per person. In the same area are beautiful wineries to stroll and enjoy a glass of wine.

The historic and charming town of Atotonilco is just 10 minutes away and also offers 3-4 great outdoor restaurants, Nirvana, Mama Mia, Lumbre, Coyote Flaco, and more.

There is a lovely weekend market full of authentic Mexican food stands, Mexican style furniture, ceramics, toys and more.

The same highway (Route 51), also that runs the other direction to Dolores Hidalgo, a town known for amazing custom woodworking and ceramics can be found.

This gem sits tight in a safe, undiscovered area close to everything there is to love about the state of  Guanajuato, Mexico.
